Lady Gee Gees hold title as defending champions

The Lady Gee Gees win the CUUC 2010 gold, defending their title as Canadian University Champions in the womens division. Throughout the whole weekend the entire roster rolled through the lines, playing both O and D and gaining valuable on-field experiences. With maybe a little more experience than other teams on our side, the Gee Gees handily broke through other teams zone defenses each game, with newer players on the team bringing a new-found intensity to their game and being standout assets both on offense and defense.

Friday pool play games were played against Sherbrooke, ConUQAM, Western, and Guelph. It was rainy and cold throughout the day, but the Gee Gees played through all conditions and came out on top with a day 1 record of 4-0.

Saturday had 3 games: one pool play against McGill (10-3), a cross-over game against Queens (13-7), and quarter finals against Sherbrooke (15-5). Bring on the semi's on Sunday morning.

Semi's against Western on Sunday morning were played in sunshine (thank goodness), and a strong wind. A final score of 14-6 meant that finals against Guelph were next. Finals against Guelph saw a lot of the same things on their part from Friday's pool play game against them - a lot of athleticism and skill. However, the Gee Gees came out strong once again, gaining several breaks from the beginning, and then rolling lines throughout the rest of the game to finish off with a final score of 14-8.

Defending champions once again, but still with lots of work before we hit the USA circuit in a few months! Yeeeeeehaw, giddy up gee's!
